For centuries, mankind has been locked in conflict with its greatest enemies…monsters. Vicious beasts whose only desire was to feast on human flesh, blood and various other parts. At the dawn of the 20th century, mankind discovered the weakness of the monster race: being shot in the face. Armed with this knowledge, humanity took the upper hand in this conflict and by the 1990s monsters were all but extinct.

To celebrate their victory, some of humanity's greatest minds united and created the glorious sport of monster fighting. Reanimating the bodies of their old foes, these erudite experts of science pitted them against each other in underground bouts. As the battles raged and parts of the monsters were damaged, they were replaced with parts of other monsters, leading to the glorious amalgams that have become the standard in monster fighting today.
